Public Interest Disclosure
The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018 (PID Act) establishes a scheme that:
- encourages and facilitates the appropriate disclosure of public interest information to certain people or authorities
- provides protections for those who make appropriate public interest disclosures
- sets out processes for dealing with disclosures
- ensures disclosures cannot be ignored.
Public interest information is:
- Environment and health information – information that raises a potential issue of a substantial risk to the environment or to the health and safety of the public generally or a significant section of the public.
- Public administration information – information that raises a potential issues of corruption, misconduct or maladministration in public administration.

To make a report

The person receiving the public interest information must comply with the requirements set out under the PID Act.
Accessibility and assistance
For customers who do not have English as their first language or customers who are hearing impaired or mute, the Australian Government provides the following services:
