PRIORITIES

Leadership

  • Lead cross-government strategic policy and projects to strengthen the state's disaster resilience
  • Enhance decision-making and investments, including by delivering grant programs
  • Future-proof volunteering by better attracting, retaining and supporting volunteers
  • Represent our community at national forums to build a stronger emergency management system

Corporate Advice & Delivery

  • Provide a reliable and safe ICT environment that facilitates the emergency services sector
  • Equip those on the frontline with WHS support and deliver efficient, compassionate injury management
  • Deliver expert HR and workforce services, guiding the sector across the employee lifecycle
  • Enable land acquisitions and capital projects to support fit-for-purpose facilities

Assurance

  • Develop financial systems and procedures to manage sector risks and compliance
  • Deliver expert advice, strategies and services for contracts and procurements
  • Provide sound corporate governance, risk management and overarching assurance for the emergency services sector

Strategic Operations

  • Deliver mental health support and strategies, including the Stress Prevention and Management (SPAM) service
  • Manage the Alert SA platform to provide multi-hazard warnings for the state
  • Support for disaster operations, including the Logistics Functional Support Group, Automatic Vehicle Location and State Emergency Information Call Centre Capability

SAFECOM works collaboratively with a broad range of community and government stakeholders, as well as its emergency service sector partners: the SA Country Fire Service,
the SA Metropolitan Fire Service, and the SA State Emergency Service.
